How Facebook Will Upend Advertising
05/28/2009- “We’re on the verge of a major rethinking of advertising’s fundamental premises(…)peer opinion has consistently been rated the most credible source of information(…).
I’m a big fan of Loomia’s SeenThis application. While it was designed for Facebook, I actually “use” it elsewhere. You’re probably familiar with the boxes on such newspapers sites as The Wall Street Journal that show what stories other readers have read. This “most read” designation rarely interests me. However, the Loomia tool gives me an additional box that shows me what stories my Facebook friends and groups have read. Generally I end up clicking through on most or all of those articles. The “recommendation” from my peer group is much more interesting and relevant to me than those of the general WSJ readership or editorial board.”
05/16/2009- “A Web technology company that that aims to bridge the gap between technological capabilities and user intents. How Loomia Aims to Drive Revenue for Media Websites in 2009
03/03/2009- “In this post we take a look at what Loomia is focusing on in 2009, which is an indicator of what media websites must do to ramp up this year.
Marks told us that a lot of their publishers are “dollar focused” this year, therefore recommendations have become more than just an interesting feature on a website – they can drive more advertising dollars. As an example, Marks told us that a media website’s Finance section may sell out with ads, but its Politics section may not (fairly common in big media websites). But the Politics section tends to get bigger page views, so to address the imbalance Loomia’s recommendations widgets can drive users from Politics to Finance.”
01/15/2009- “The truly great ideas being executed by great teams should find these turbulent times a blessing in disguise as their competitors stumble, and their customers realize their value. We believe we’ve identified many of these diamonds-in-the-making in the 2009 OnMedia 100 list.”
